Where it all began

Hi, I’m Sophie! My childhood was filled with 80’s 90’s & Y2K nostalgia, whether it be handmedown sweaters, wellies 3 sizes too big or spending Sundays combing the hair of brightly coloured trolls at my grandparent’s house, it was always the most important memories which were made in mismatched outfits, often plastered in busy patterns & wellies covered in a thick layer of mud.
I have the fondest memories of visiting the local butcher on the shoulders of my grandad in a huge rugby top, digging up worms in the garden & eating enormous Sunday roasts where my nan would swiftly plonk ‘the mucky top’ over my head (the one & only 80’s Spider-Man T-shirt) which had once belonged to my dad. And it allll came flooding back when I had my first child, sat at the very same table as I used to, eating his lunch … and then it happened, my nan popped her hand into the drawer retrieving the ‘mucky top’ & placed it over his head. There was something deeply satisfying & strangely rewarding about seeing my own child dressed in the same clothes I wore, especially those associated with the memories that matter the most.
There it was, the tiny seed which snowballed into Jammy Kids, a feeling, a memory & heaps of nostalgia. I want to share this dopamine rush with parents, aunties, uncles alike - watching a little person you love, unwrap something special & meaningful, unique & wonderful, just like them, that takes you back - and doesn’t cost the earth. Ditch the mass produced nonsense & consider shopping small with Jammy Kids x
